Our biggest event today came late morning when Delia was bundled up and taken to Iasi. We understand that they are continuing to evaluate her for prosthetics. Not sure what the outcome of this particular appointment will be but it is good she is getting this attention. Of course we missed her the rest of the day. Not sure how long she will be gone.
Another relatively big event was our purchase of a bee toy with blinking lights that moves and plays twinkle, twinkle little star. Alina was so intrigued. She examined it closely and gently and danced to the music. Marius was slower to warm up to it and of course we had to keep an eye on him do he wouldn't throw it as he tends to do with just about everything.
Luca had a good day practicing his walking and riding on his pink see saw. He can really get going on it. I told him, "ride 'em cowboy." All he needs is a hat.
Elena seemed happier today and spent some time being held by Beth. Cleo got lots of attention and gave us some of her sweet smiles but unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to catch them with my camera. Andrei seemed to have a better day but poor little guy, he doesn't seem to respond much. Hard to tell as his eyes roll back so badly.
Luciana (don't you love that name?) needs to practice bending her knees and sitting. The neurologist from Iasi who comes once a week saw her and our other children today. In fact, the hallway was very crowded this morning with people coming for appointments with her.
We stayed around the hospital at lunch time and walked in the public garden. I'd never seen the restaurant and "summer palace" that of course aren't open now. There is also a small zoo but we don't venture that far.
We were able to sneak a window open a few times in the playroom. I remember the rooms being hot but sometimes I am just dripping sweat. When we arrived this morning Delia had a dirty diaper, was crying, and had beads of sweat on her forehead.
We met with Dr. Magda who heads up the children's part of the hospital. She said how much they appreciate the volunteers who work with children who have special needs. She also told a a story about Alina being in the hospital once when there were no volunteers and she was looking for them in the rooms. Breaks your heart.
We walked home from the hospital and Beth is pretty sure someone reached into one of the compartments on her back pack. She felt something and then saw a young boy go past and start running. Fortunately there wasn't much of anything in there; she said he may have only gotten a business card!
We made a group decision to skip dinner and snack in our rooms. The hotel menu just isn't that exciting, not that the food is bad, just not interesting especially for vegetarians.
BTW, first thing this morning I went to the doorway of my room to access the internet to see if the 49ers had won. Sorry to see they lost but sounds like a good game. I guess teaching Alina to say go niners didn't do the trick.
Noapte Buna (good night).
